What Are The Common Causes of Spinal Stenosis

Arthritis

Osteoarthritis can happen in the spine as we get older, particularly in people with manual jobs. This type of arthritis can cause extra bone growth or bone spurs to develop.  This along with other changes can crowd the spinal canal causing Spinal Stenosis.

Herniated or Bulging Discs

Damage to the disc tissue between each vertebrae can cause it to change shape.  This can be a mild bulging or a herniation of disc tissue, causing it to press on the spinal canal and /or nerves, causing Stenosis.

Need Something More For Your Stenosis Pain?

You should consider IDD Therapy if:

  • You have ongoing or chronic neck pain, back pain or sciatica associated with Spinal Stenosis.
  • You have been diagnosed with a slipped, prolapsed or herniated disc that is stopping you from living your life.
  • You have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis and told that nothing can be done about it.
  • You are keen to avoid invasive spinal injections or surgery.
  • You are tired of the merry-go-round of NHS appointments, painkillers and waiting times.

So, what is IDD Therapy?

The video below will explain how IDD Therapy, a safe and gentle approach to back and neck pain, has helped 1000s of people in the UK break free from a cycle of painkillers and get back to normal life.

A Safe and Trusted Approach to Degenerative disc disease, Spinal Stenosis and Back Pain

Intervertebral Differential Dynamics (IDD) Therapy is a successful and trusted non surgical spinal decompression treatment for back pain, neck pain and related problems such as sciatica.

It is particularly useful to sufferers of:

  • Bulging or slipped discs.
  • Spinal Stenosis.
  • Sciatica or trapped nerves.
  • Pain that hasn't improved with other approaches such as spinal injections.
  • Cases of chronic pain ongoing for more than 6 weeks.

How Does IDD Therapy Work?

Spinal Decompression

By decompressing (taking pressure off) a slipped or bulging disc and stretching the soft tissues, mobility in the spine can be improved. This can relieve pain caused by muscle spasm, and alleviate nerve compression and irritation caused by herniated or prolapsed discs.

Targeted Treatment

IDD Therapy targets the specific area of your spine that is causing the pain using our highly accurate Accu Spina machine.

The gentle decompression force is also a precisely calculated proportion of your body weight and is therefore specifically tailored to you.

Restores Painfree Movement

Each session of decompression force is gently increased. This treatment progressively decompresses your spine allowing your range of movement to improve, so you can get back to doing normal things.

Is IDD Therapy treatment painful?

Patients do not typically feel any pain during treatment.  The treatment itself is actually quite gentle, it is not unusual for people to fall asleep during their decompression treatment.

The decompression pulling force used is set to a precise proportion of your body weight.  This means it is specific to you and therefore unlikely to cause any pain or discomfort.

The decompression forces used are built up slowly and gradually during the course of your treatment, depending on your history and how you are responding to treatment.

After your treatment, we apply a cold compress to the area, this helps to reduce any soreness after the treatment.  Some patients do report soreness similar to what you would expect after having hands on treatment, such as massage, but this generally gets less intense as the treatment course progresses.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

IDD Therapy Is A Course Of Treatment

Every case of back pain is different but typically takes place over a 4/6 week period.  This allows time for the body to adapt with the goal of gently improving and restoring normal spinal function.

The exact number of treatments required will depend on your specific condition and how your body responds to the decompression therapy.

While relief from pain can be experienced in the early stages of treatment, the body does not adjust overnight, especially when chronic conditions may have built up over a long period of time.

So Why Choose IDD Therapy?

  • Your current treatment is not working or only giving you very temporary relief.
  • You are taking painkillers and would like to stop.
  • You are seeking long term pain relief.
  • You want to get return to normal and get back to your life.
  • You have been told to consider invasive treatments such as injections or surgery, but would prefer to avoid these.

Osteopath and Owner of Sports and Spinal Clinic, Harpenden, Hertfordshire:

"We wanted the IDD Therapy treatment because it enables us to help patients who are often stuck. With IDD Therapy, we now have a tool which enables us to do far more for our patients, with the aim to help them avoid going down the surgery route."

What Our Patients Say About IDD Therapy:

Colin, Hertfordshire: "IDD Therapy was my last resort after over a year of excruciating leg and back pain. The pain was affecting both my work and sleeping and making me feel depressed. I found the treatment very relaxing and even fell asleep during treatments. It has been life-changing and after 15 sessions I am now pain free.  I would highly recommend to you if you have sciatica"

Monica, Hertfordshire: "After 2 years of not being able to compete at my favourite sport, tennis, I have finally found a treatment that is getting me active again. Gillian Brown at Sportsnspinal in Harpenden recommended this brilliant method of traction using the latest technology called IDD. It's helping release the pressure on my lower back discs and the results are phenomenal. I've gone from being scared to run to competing at international level in a year. I get to lie down on the machine for 26 mins of chill time while it works its magic. No regrets here"

John Coleman, Harpenden: "I have been extremely pleased with my IDD Therapy Disc Treatment. The way it targets the problem areas has significantly improved my back. I felt better after 3 sessions and carried on improving over the 8 sessions to the point that I am now essentially pain free."
