Are you dealing with a herniated, slipped or bulging disc and wondering if IDD Therapy can actually help you?
Because I see people everyday in Hertfordshire or Bedfordshire with herniated disc symptoms I've written a guide which I hope helps you understand if IDD therapy might be an option for you - so you know if this could be a good option for you Jump to find a solution to my Herniated disc problem
Think of a disc like a water balloon (or a car tyre). When it loses pressure, it can bulge into the space where your spinal nerves run. Those nerves are incredibly sensitive, so when they’re irritated or compressed you can feel far more than “just back pain.”
IDD therapy was designed to heal herniated (slipped or bulged) symptoms including;
Sharp, searing pain in the lower back, buttock, and down the leg (sometimes to the calf or foot).
Why IDD helps: the treatment gently decompresses the specific spinal level, taking pressure off the nerve so pain has space to settle.
Tingling, pins and needles, buzzing, burning or numbness along a nerve pathway.
Why IDD helps: a precise, computer-controlled stretch plus a gentle oscillation (“wiggle”) encourages fluid back into the disc - helping calm irritated nerve tissue.
Feeling a little weaker when pushing off, lifting the foot, or climbing stairs.
Why IDD helps: by reducing compression at the level shown on your MRI, the nerve has a better chance to recover its function over a course of sessions.
Protective tightness around the back/hip, difficulty straightening up.
Why IDD helps: targeted decompression + rhythmic mobilisation can reduce guarding and make the segment move and glide more freely.
Symptoms that flare when you sit too long or when you first stand up/walk.
Why IDD helps: by improving disc hydration (think “pumping up the tyre”), IDD Therapy can make load-transfer through the segment more comfortable.
In short: IDD decompress the level, re-hydrate the disc, calm the nerve - guided by your MRI and a proper exam.

How a herniated disc affects your daily life:
Sleep: Pain and nerve tingling disrupt rest, leaving you tired.
Sitting & driving: Long sits/commutes flare symptoms; constant fidgeting or breaks.
Walking & tasks: Shorter walking distance, trouble with stairs, bending, carrying.
Mood & confidence: Ongoing pain drives worry/low mood and fear of movement.
Meds: Short-term painkillers help, but side-effects (fog, constipation, drowsiness) add up.
Lets discuss what IDD Therapy feel like and if it could be the right treatment for you.
You’ll be comfortably supported on the table while the system targets the exact level shown on your MRI. Most people describe a relieving stretch with a gentle, rhythmic movement. Because discs and nerves heal gradually, It's umbelievable relaxing and many of out patients fall asleep while they are healing :)
More information on IDD Therapy
They can sit/drive longer with fewer flare-ups
They sleep better with calmer nerve irritation
They can walk further, move easier, and often rely less on painkillers over a course of care - everyone hates pain medication!
IDD Therapy is a non-surgical, non-invasive option for many people with MRI-confirmed disc problems. We always:
Review your MRI (or order one for you in our rapid referral £295 and it takes a week to come back)
Perform nerve/orthopaedic tests
Make sure you’re suitable and talk you through the plan
If your case needs a different pathway (e.g., mainly bony stenosis, red-flag conditions, or a surgical opinion), I'll be open and clear with you.
